Have you ever wanted to be an author but you didn’t know how to get started? Learn how to create a do-it-yourself 8-page zine that can be easily mass produced with a copy machine. Participants will use a combination of original and appropriated images and/or text to share ideas, inspire others, encourage creativity and make connections. Zine topics include, poetry, cartoon, short stories, top 10 lists, and how to guides. This workshop is a fun way to engage even the most reluctant authors and creators.
At the conclusion of this workshop I will share how participants can submit a copy of their completed zine to be included in the Los Angeles Public Library’s Zine Collection. This means that anyone with a library card will be able to check out their published work just like all the other great books available at the library.
